FAQ for Clinic Hosts

Who can host a Women On Target® clinic?

Any club or range with at least one NRA Certified Instructor willing to assist is eligible to host a clinic.

My club only has a pistol (or rifle or shotgun) range. Can we still host a clinic?

Yes. Many clinic organizers find restricting the clinic to a single discipline helps keep the event focused and manageable.

Can I be a Clinic Director even if I am not an NRA Certified Instructor?

Yes. Clinic Directors are not required to be NRA Certified Instructors.

Why do you require an NRA Certified Instructor at every clinic?

An NRA Certified Instructor is required to register the Instructional Shooting Clinic in the online NRA Instructors portal, download the Women On Target® curriculum, present the curriculum to students, and upload a course report to the NRA Instructors portal.

Do I have to write a curriculum?

No. Women On Target® provides a curriculum through the NRA Instructors portal.

Do Clinic Directors/instructors/volunteers have to be women?

No. Clinics are free to appoint and recruit volunteers suited to their needs.

How is Women On Target® different from a Basic Pistol/Rifle/Shotgun class?

Women On Target® Instructional Shooting Clinics are events, not classes. They offer an enjoyable and low-commitment introduction to the variety of shooting disciplines available to women. Women On Target® Instructional Shooting Clinics should emphasize providing a positive experience and reducing barriers to entry, though safety rules can never be compromised.

What materials does the Women On Target® program provide?

Women On Target® provides a gift bag for attendees. For more information, see the Clinic Guidebook.

When should we order materials?

You should order materials 45-60 days before your event. This timeframe allows sufficient time to process and ship your order.

Is there any additional funding available for Women On Target® clinics?

Qualifying nonprofits are encouraged to apply for grants through the NRA Foundation.

How do we get more information?

To learn more about hosting a clinic, download the Guidebook.
